During large scale emergencies, it might take days to weeks until first responders and aid organizations are able to assist the public. This is why it is extremely important for the public to prepare themselves and their families.

  • Be Prepared – Below are links to the American Red Cross and Prepare OC websites where you can find additional steps to take action and get prepared.
  • Stay Informed! – Orange County uses AlertOC, a public mass notification system designed to keep those who live or work in Orange County informed of important information during emergency events. For more information or to subscribe for emergency alerts in your area, visit AlertOC.
  • Map Your Hazard – The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services offers the public access to MyHazards, a tool for the general public to discover hazards in their area (earthquake, flood, fire, and tsunami) and learn steps to reduce personal risk. To map the hazards that may affect your area, visit MyHazards.
