Water Supply

Approximately 50 percent of all the water used throughout Orange County comes from imported supplies. The rest comes from a vast underground aquifer, recycled wastewater, and several small groundwater basins.

The Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) purchases high-quality water from the Colorado River and the Sacramento-San Joaquin Bay Delta, through the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan).
