FREE Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper (QWEL) Certification

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MET), now offers FREE Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper (QWEL) certification classes for landscape professionals. Classes are open to any city staff, professional landscaper, water district employee, or maintenance personnel that would like to become a Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper.

The QWEL certification program provides 20 hours of instruction on water efficient areas of expertise such as local water supply, sustainable landscaping, soil types, irrigation systems and maintenance, as well as irrigation controller scheduling and programing. To earn the QWEL certification, class participants must demonstrate their ability to perform an irrigation audit as well as pass the QWEL exam. Successful graduates will be listed as a Certified Professional on the WaterSense website.

QWEL is recognized as an U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) WaterSense labeled certification program. QWEL has received recognition from EPA WaterSense for continued promotion of water use efficiency.
