For 50 years, the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) has helped over 3.5 million OC students explore the value of water across every subject! Our FREE, hands-on K-12 Water Education School Programs connect water to science, math, language arts, social studies, and more, all aligned with California state standards. OC teachers, want in? Elementary School Programs
Grades K-2
Sing, laugh, and learn with Shows That Teach!
This lively K–2 assembly uses music, humor, and audience participation to introduce students to the water cycle, conservation, and where our water comes from.
With fun pre- and post-activities like puzzles, games, and art students explore how water impacts their lives and how to use it wisely.
Free for approved OC schools available in-person or virtual!
Grades 3-5
Orange County Department of Education’s Inside the Outdoors brings water to life for elementary school students!
Students dive into California water history, local climate, and conservation through hands-on lessons, demos, and interactive activities.
Each session sparks curiosity at school and at home with take-home resources, outdoor fun, and creative projects.
Free for approved OC schools offered in-person or virtual!
Middle & High School Programs
Grades 6-8 & 9-12
Real-world water challenges, real student solutions!
Orange County Department of Education’s Inside the Outdoors leads hands-on lessons where students explore water issues, human impact, and how to protect local supplies.
