MWDOC Receives $100,00 Grant for Water Efficiency in the Commercial Sector
This critical initiative aims to enhance water efficiency across Orange County by developing best management practices and customer classifications within the CII sector. The grant will allow MWDOC to assist local retail water providers to meet the requirements of AB 1668 and SB 606, laws that are integral to the state’s “Making Conservation a California Way of Life” framework.
“The support from the United States Bureau of Reclamation is instrumental in advancing our efforts to manage water resources more efficiently,” said Joe Berg, Director of Water Use Efficiency at MWDOC. “This project will not only help achieve sustainability goals but also reduce financial burdens on our member agencies as they work to comply with the CII Performance Measures of the state’s conservation framework.”
The funding will facilitate the creation of implementation plans for best management practices specifically tailored for the CII sectors, ensuring that water management strategies are both practical and economically feasible.
“This grant exemplifies our commitment to supporting our community in sustainable water use while also ensuring compliance with state regulations,” added MWDOC Board Vice President Jeffery Thomas. “We are dedicated to implementing innovative solutions that benefit both our economy and meet new regulations.”
MWDOC looks forward to collaborating with local businesses and institutions to continue its efforts to secure a sustainable water future for Orange County.
