The Municipal Water District of Orange County strives to provide a variety of services that provide benefit to its stakeholders and constituents. Our efforts focus on sound planning and appropriate investments in water supply development, water use efficiency, public information, legislative advocacy, water education, and emergency preparedness.

Program Description

The Municipal Water District of Orange County is partnering with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and your local retail water provider to bring you the Turf Removal Program (Program). Through this Program, residential and small commercial customers of participating retail water providers (see list below) are eligible to receive an incentive of $1.00 per square foot of turf removed for qualifying projects.*  Check with your local retail water provider regarding any additional funding that may be available.

The goals of this program are to increase water use efficiency within Orange County, reduce runoff leaving the properties, and evaluate the effectiveness of water-saving practices. Your participation in this Program is voluntary and is encouraged by your local retail water provider.

Funding for the Turf Removal Program has been exhausted for this year’s cycle (July 1, 2012 thru June 30, 2013). For updates regarding startup of the next funding cycle (July 1, 2013 thru June 30, 2014), please check back during the months of May and June.
