The Water Use Efficiency
Department at the Municipal Water District of Orange
County takes pride in providing programs to assist
residential homeowners, commercial/industrial business
owners, and professional landscapers in reducing the
daily amount of water used. Since water is one of
the most valuable resources in Southern California,
it is very important to use this precious natural
resource wisely. Several programs are administered
by the Water Use Efficiency Department to assist in
the effort of saving water, including the rebate programs listed below.

Residential Indoor/Outdoor Rebates and Programs
Starting September 21, 2009, a limited number of rebates will be available through the SoCal Water$mart program for Southern California customers. Changes have been made to the program in order to promote installation of water-saving devices while working within a reduced budget.
Key changes to SoCal WaterSmart program as of September 21, 2009, include:
- Limited funding is provided by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and MWDOC, and submitting a rebate application does not guarantee you will receive a rebate. Rebates will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis until funding is exhausted.
- Rebate applications are available online and may also be available at retail stores.
- Rebate reservations are not required.
- Only original receipts will be accepted as proof of purchase.
- Rebate applications and proof of purchase must be postmarked no later than 45 days after purchase.
- Some devices or products may no longer be eligible for rebate, and rebate amounts are subject to change.
- Rebate checks will be issued only to the residential water customer directly.
- Purchases made prior to September 21, 2009 are ineligible for MWD region-wide rebates.
- Rebate amounts may vary depending on local water agency participation.
